Semester at Sea Moroccan experience:

2ND APRILTangier → Casablanca → Errachidia → Merzouga

In the late afternoon, you will take the train from Tangier (around 5:00 PM) to Casablanca Airport. This timing allows a smooth check-in for your 10:00 PM flight to Errachidia. Upon arrival in Errachidia close to midnight, we will personally meet you at the airport and transfer you directly to the Merzouga desert area (approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes).

Because of the late arrival, we recommend staying overnight in a comfortable desert hotel rather than the camp, so your children can rest well after the travel day.

3RD APRILSahara Desert Cultural Immersion (Camel ride and Quad Bikes)

After breakfast, you will begin a full desert discovery day around Merzouga and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

In the morning, you will visit a nomadic family living near the dunes. You will share tea and learn about their daily life, traditions, and how families adapt to desert conditions. This experience allows authentic cultural exchange in a relaxed environment.

You will also visit Khamlia village to experience traditional Gnawa music, performed by descendants of Sub-Saharan African communities.

For lunch, you will join Nomads for a traditional meal and participate in preparing Berber pizza (Madfouna), a fun and interactive cooking activity that children usually enjoy very much.

In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle camel ride toward the oasis at a comfortable family pace. You will walk through palm groves and watch the sunset over the dunes.

Overnight will be in a luxury desert camp with private tent and bathroom. Dinner will be served under the stars, followed by soft traditional music around the fire (optional and relaxed atmosphere).

4TH APRILSahara → Rissani → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley

After breakfast, you will depart for Rissani, a traditional market town and the historical birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. If it is market day, you will see authentic local trade, spices, dates, and traditional livestock markets.

Continue to the spectacular Todra Gorges, where you can take a short, easy walk between the impressive canyon walls. The area is safe and suitable for children, with beautiful photo opportunities.

In the afternoon, drive to the Dades Valley, famous for its unusual rock formations often called “Monkey Fingers.” Overnight in a charming guesthouse surrounded by mountains.

5TH April Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

After breakfast, travel through the Valley of Roses toward Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert.

You will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages. It has been used as a filming location for many international movies. You can walk through its ancient clay architecture and climb to the top for panoramic views.

In the afternoon, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying spectacular landscapes along the way. Arrival in Marrakech in the evening. Overnight in a comfortable riad in the Medina.

6th APRILHot Air Ballon & Marrakech Tour

Today, start your day with a hot air balloon ride over the Atlas Mountains and the surroundings. Enjoy the sunrise and the stunning views.

Afterwards, the day is free for you to explore Marrakech. Wander the streets, visit the markets, taste local specialties, or relax in a café. The afternoon is yours to enjoy the city at your own pace.

Overnight in Marrakech.
