Start your 3 days desert tour from Agadir to Marrakech with a scenic drive from Agadir toward Taroudant, often called “Little Marrakech.” Walk its busy streets, explore the old city walls, and enjoy the lively markets and local culture. This stop helps you get a feel for Moroccan culture and traditions in the south.
Continue through the Souss Valley to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient fortified city, made of earth and stone, has appeared in many famous films. Walk through its narrow streets, admire the high mud-brick walls, and learn about its history as a stop along the trade route between Marrakech and the Sahara.
In the afternoon, arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Desert.” Visit the Atlas Film Studios, where you can see some of the movie sets. Check into your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate for dinner and stay overnight.
After breakfast, leave Ouarzazate and drive along the Thousand Kasbah Road, passing through Berber villages and beautiful valleys. Stop to enjoy the views of the Rose Valley and Dades Valley, known for their stunning cliffs and winding roads.
Continue to Todra Gorge, a breathtaking canyon with tall orange-colored cliffs rising over 1,000 feet. Walk along the base of the gorge, explore the shaded paths, and take in the views of this natural wonder. In the afternoon, head to the Sahara Desert, passing through small Berber villages like Tinjdad, Melaab, and Erfoud.
Upon reaching the golden dunes of Erg-Chebbi, take a camel ride to your desert camp. Watch the sunset from the top of the dunes and enjoy traditional music and a campfire at night. Stay in a luxury desert camp or an authentic tent, sleeping under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes, a once-in-a-lifetime desert experience. After breakfast, ride your camel back to Merzouga and start your journey toward Marrakech. Travel through Rissani, a historic trading town, and pass by Alnif and Tazarine, taking in the green palm oases and mountainous views.
Drive through the fertile Draa Valley, where you’ll see palm trees, kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages. Stop at Agdez before heading up the Anti-Atlas Mountains, where you can get great photo spots and enjoy the stunning views. After a lunch break in Ouarzazate, continue through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
