The location has been utilized as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films, including “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Gladiator”, “Kingdom of Heaven”, “Prince of Persia” and innumerable others. The Kasbahs (fortresses) reflect Moroccan architecture & culture. After exploring the kasbah, we will continue our road to Ouarzazate.
Then, we will continue our journey across the road of thousands of Kasbahs and Oasis to see a huge valley with a small oasis and hundreds of ancient fortifications. We will reach the Rose Valley. After a 50-minute drive, we will arrive at our destination, Boumalne Dades, where we will spend the night in an authentic lodge with dinner and breakfast.
We begin our expedition towards Todra Gorge by traveling through the enchanting Berber villages. Along the way, we’ll pause to appreciate the stunning Todra Valley, a landscape abundant with palm trees. Our ultimate destination is Todra Gorges, a renowned hub for rock climbing in Morocco. Here, we’ll take a brief stroll through the towering gray and pink canyons.
Following our walk inside the Todra Gorges, we’ll head to Tinjdad and Touroug, where we’ll break for a satisfying lunch. Our journey then continues to Erfoud, which marks the commencement of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet.

As the sun sets, we’ll make our way to the camp, where you’ll be greeted with a refreshing glass of mint tea.
Your evening at the Merzouga desert camp will include a delectable dinner, a comforting campfire, lively music, and the chance to spend the night beneath the starry desert sky.
Following an early morning, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Later, you can choose to return to the village via either a camel ride or a 4WD jeep, depending on your preference.
Our journey will then take us to the city of Fes, with a route that includes passing through Errachidia city. On the way, we’ll make a stop at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Ziz Valley. Continuing our trip, we’ll head to Midelt for lunch, and from there, we’ll traverse the Cedar Forest, where you can spot the Barbary macaque and explore the vast cedar forest. Our next destination is Ifrane, where we’ll enjoy a brief visit to the city. Afterward, we’ll resume our journey toward Fes City.

The oldest mosque in Africa is located on the grounds of the University of Al-Karaouine. Take a moment to rest in front of Idris I’s tomb, the man credited with founding Fes. You must see the famous fountain in Nejjarine whenever you visit the area. Lastly, stop by the stunning Nejjarine Museum of Wood Arts and Crafts. In the afternoon, you will visit the Attarine Medersa.
We will continue exploring the medina and halt in front of the “blue Gate” of Fes, Bab Boujouloud. Stop at Borj Norj on your tour of the city walls for a breathtaking panorama of the medina below. Next, on the outskirts of the city, you’ll visit an artisanal complex before heading back to your Riad.
Today, we will head towards the blue city of Chefchaouen through the Rif Mountains. On our way, we will have time to discover the Roman ruins of Volubilis. After that, we will start our journey. RockyZ192025-03-04Verified 5-day private tour Casablanca-Fes-Chefchaouen Desert discovery tours and our trip coordinator Mustapha were excellent. We asked for a lot of changes to the itinerary in the planning stage and Mustapha was patient, flexible, accommodating and knowledgeable throughout. In the end he crafted the perfect 5-day private tour for us. Our guide/driver Ibrahim was wonderful. He drove carefully, gave us useful and interesting information, spoke beautifully in English, and ensured that we were always enjoying the trip. The cost was competitive with other agencies and the choice of lodging and activities were good quality. I recommend desert discovery tours if you are looking to take a private, bespoke trip in Morocco. Alessio2025-03-04Verified SUPER Everything perfect really organizedOur guide was very knowledgeable and very kind, thank you very much it was a wonderful experience. alicemonge2025-02-21Verified An amazing tour of the desert! I really enjoyed this 5 days tours of Morocco. We visited the Atlas mountains, the stunning Dades valley, the desert and much more. We have stayed in beautiful, cozy hotels that were preparing us delicious breakfasts and dinners. Our driver Mohammed was very kind to us, he was very experienced and he made us listen to very nice Moroccan songs while we were traveling, creating a special atmosphere. He made us explore the desert and its surroundings in an authentic way. Thanks to him we had the chance to try traditional food such as dates, Berber pizza… I really enjoyed the two days in the desert in which I have made a tour of the dromedary and I have listen a drum show under the stars. The driver also brought us to try sandboarding and a tour with the quad in the desert. I really recommend it to everyone! Shekhar R2025-02-13Verified Morocco has lot to offer and we only scratched the surface with a 10 day trip. Soak it in Morocco has been on our list of must go places for a long time and we were able to finally make a 10 day trip. Mustapha helped us build an itinerary that combined both history and nature. Starting at Marrakech we enjoyed walking through the historic Medina and soaking in the culture. Highly recommend staying at Riad Khireddine. The staff was amazing. The hot air balloon ride in the outskirts was an experience and would highly recommended. A long road trip through high atlas mountain to Dades valley was well worth it. We then made it to the Merzouga desert and the tent camping under the stars was the highlight of the trip. From the desert we proceeded to Fes. The history of this city is definitely worth learning about. The Medina here is bigger and better the one in Marrakech. Finally we went to Chefchouen. While the setting of this quaint town is unique, it was probably the most touristy of all the other places. Thank you Mustapha and team for making it a memorable experience. We certainly enjoyed our conversations, the folk music during the road trip, the hospitality and food. While BA did not deliver our luggage for almost 3 days (story for another time), Mustapha pulled all stops to get our luggage delivered at one of our stops after we had left Marrakech. Couldn’t have asked for a better tour company and guide. Arianna Vitale2025-02-09Verified That's great! To be redone tomorrow Great tour! Beautiful views, great food. The night in the desert a dream.. Mustapha guided us on this journey and was an indispensable company: she gave us cultural information and a sense of security and unique tranquility that for two girls alone in a country completely different from their own is no small thing!I would come back tomorrow!! Stephanie M2025-02-08Verified A great trip! Desert Discovery is an excellent way to explore Morocco! Our family chose the Fossil tour and our guide Hammi was exceptional. Learning about the history of the Berber people and the geology of the area was the real highlight. This tour shows you both the classic Moroccan tourist attractions and cities while also accommodating your needs and personal interests. A great trip, thank you! sibylle2025-02-07Verified awesome 3 days desert trip from Marrakesh to Fes We booked the 3 day tour from Marrakesh to Fes and had a great time.
