Today, we will have a guided tour of Fes. Walk through the walled streets and observe the daily procession of mourners at the tomb of Fez’s founder, Moulay Idriss II. Founded in the 9th century, the Medina of Fes is home to the oldest university in the world. Spend the day exploring the old city, visiting the Mederassa Bou Inania, the tanneries, and the splendid Funduk Nejjarine, an 18th-century inn. We’re continuing our 13-day Morocco Tour and moving on from Fes to the Sahara desert via a scenic road that is full of plenty of attractions on the way. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, which is called the Switzerland of Morocco because of its alpine climate. Then, we’ll pass through hills covered in forests of cork oak and large cedar trees, where we will have a chance to see the monkeys. We will go over the Middle Atlas mountains and see the unique buildings in southern Morocco.
