This 3 day tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga Desert is perfect for travelers who want to experience the culture and beauty of the area, not just travel a lot. It includes meaningful stops, fun desert activities, and well-planned routes between Ouarzazate, Merzouga, and Marrakech.
You’ll see beautiful landscapes, meet local people, and have special desert experiences like walking in the desert at sunset, staying in a fancy desert camp, and exploring the Merzouga Sahara by 4×4. Along the way, you’ll visit traditional markets, lush palm oases, and places on the UNESCO list. The trip also includes crossing the High Atlas Mountains on your way to Marrakech.

The 3 day Morocco tour from Ouarzazate starts with being picked up from your hotel or airport in Ouarzazate. The journey takes you east towards the Todra Valley, known for its amazing red cliffs and traditional villages.
After arriving at Todra Gorges, you’ll have time to walk among the tall canyon walls shaped by the Todra River over many years. The cool shade and big rock walls make it one of the most beautiful natural places around.
As you move through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, the land becomes warmer and more like the desert. You’ll have lunch along the way and arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. At the edge of the dunes, you’ll switch from driving to riding on camels and walk across the sands of Erg Chebbi.
Halfway, you’ll stop on a high dune to watch the sunset, where the desert turns into warm colors. You’ll ride to your luxury camp, where you’ll have dinner under the stars and enjoy Berber music and drumming around a campfire. You’ll stay in a private tent for the night.
After breakfast at the camp, the day is spent exploring the Merzouga Desert by 4×4. This area has more than just sand, with a mix of land shaped over time and influenced by local traditions. You’ll start with a drive to an old place where they used to mine for traditional eyeliner.
From there, you’ll visit families who live in handmade tents and will share a cup of Berber tea, giving you a chance to learn about their daily life. The tour continues to Khamlia village, where people have roots from Sub-Saharan Africa.
You’ll be welcomed with traditional Gnaoua music and dance. After lunch, you’ll walk through palm trees and visit a seasonal lake that sometimes has flamingos when the water is high. Later, you’ll ride camels again, enjoying another sunset from the dunes before returning to the luxury camp. You’ll have dinner, music, and a peaceful night under the stars in the Sahara.
The day starts early, giving you a great view of the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you’ll ride back to Merzouga to meet your driver and begin the journey west. On this 3 day tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga Desert, you’ll drive through desert plains and mountain foothills, stopping for photos and short breaks before having lunch in Ouarzazate.
The route leads to Aït Ben Haddou, a famous fortified village in Morocco. You’ll have time to explore the kasbah and learn about its history and how it has appeared in many films and shows. In the afternoon, you’ll climb into the High Atlas Mountains and cross the beautiful Tizi-n-Tichka Pass with stunning views and winding roads. By evening, you’ll arrive in Marrakech, where the tour ends with a drop-off at your accommodation or the airport.

EXCELLENT Based on 320 reviews Posted on giorgia rVerified Great tour An incredible experience, exceptional tour we saw incredible places, the hotels were all high quality, very kind staff. Thanks to our guide IbrahimPosted on Lance KVerified 9-day tour through Morocco We did a custom 9-day private tour starting in Marrakech, through Dades valley then the deserts near Merzouga, continuing to Fes, Chefchaouen, and ending in Rabat/Casablanca, with stops along the way. Highlight was camping in the Sahara desert -- riding camels through the sands to reach the campsite, feeling the soft orange sands run through your fingers, listening to the drums by the fire under the stars -- it was quite the sensory experience. Our guide/driver Hsaine / Hassan was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable in many subject matters, able to converse in multiple languages. Highly recommended.Posted on Maria Teresa LVerified Unforgettable 8 days starting from Marrakech, then several stops to Fez. Then Casablanca for the last day. I recommend not only the tour, but also the Desert Discovery Tour organization run by a very good young Mustafà. With him we were able to further customize the trip already set according to our wishes. Also thanks to the flexibility of the talented driver Brahim, who accompanied us throughout the tour.
