Our 5 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with a departure from your Hotel/Riad in Fes. We’ll head to Ifrane, often referred to as the “Moroccan Switzerland,” and later, we’ll pause at the Cedar Forest to observe monkeys playing in the trees. Next, we’ll traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains to reach the Ziz Valley, known for its extensive palm groves and oasis communities in southern Morocco. Our journey continues to Erfoud before finally reaching the Merzouga desert, where you’ll spend the first night at a traditional Riad.
In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a 1.5-hour camel ride to reach the desert camp. During the ride, there will be stops amidst the dunes to witness the sunset, try optional sandboarding, capture photos, and soak in the surroundings. After the sun sets, you’ll continue to the camp, where you’ll be greeted with mint tea, enjoy dinner, a campfire, and a music gathering, and spend the night in a luxurious Merzouga desert camp, complete with breakfast and dinner.
During the 3rd day of our 5 Days Fes to Marrakech desert tour, our adventure takes us to Rissani, where we’ll explore the town and its historical market. Our journey then leads us to several Berber villages, such as Mellab, Tinjdad, and Jourf, renowned for their ancient irrigation wells. Our next destination is the Todra Valley, with its impressive 300-meter-tall canyons in the Todra gorges. The water’s force has skillfully carved its path through the rock crevices. We’ll take a stroll within the gorge before proceeding to the Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night.
After breakfast, a visit to the Dades gorges and a short walk there is scheduled. Back at the car, the trip to Ouarzazate continues, We will continue through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its Rose Festival in May. Cosmetics and toiletry items are produced and valued throughout the country. In Skoura and the oasis there, we will visit the Kasbah of Amridil. The kasbah has been beautifully restored and gives a clear idea of life within such housing. It is made entirely of adobe, an excellent building material; warm in winter and cool in summer due to the thickness of the walls. 45 minutes later, you reach Ouarzazate, where we will visit the Atlas studio and have a short look at Taourirt Kasbah. Overnight stay in Ouarzazate.
After our visit to Ouarzazate, we will cover a distance of approximately 27 kilometers to reach Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which holds the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This extraordinary location has served as the backdrop for numerous Hollywood productions like “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Gladiator,” “Kingdom of Heaven,” “Prince of Persia,” and more. The Kasbahs, or fortresses, exhibit the distinctive and captivating Moroccan architecture and culture. Once we’ve explored the kasbah, our journey will continue through the High Atlas Mountains, traversing the “Tichka pass,” ultimately leading us to Marrakech where our 5-day Moroccan Desert itinerary from Fes ends.

My partner and I set off on a 3-day (and two-night) private tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert, returning to Marrakech. Our driver Omar welcomed us warmly and made us feel immediately at home, indeed, the van that had been reserved for us (very modern, clean and comfortable) and it soon became our home. Our guide accompanied us safely to all the scheduled stops giving us different explanations in Italian, also fulfilling our every request or wish. A special mention to the Riad Rihana Dades Hotel where we slept the first night: very nice and comfortable room but above all sublime dinner (and breakfast)!!!! The tented camp in the desert was another pleasant discovery. Very nice and full of every comfort. In general, the planned program, which allowed us to discover many different landscapes and realities, was totally respected for the excellent organization of the agency. I would definitely recommend desert discovery tours both for efficiency and for the people we met and who took care of us with kindness and professionalism. Another driver we want to remember is Ahmad, who accompanied us on the last day to Marrakech showing preparation and kindness. Thank you all, it was truly an authentic and unforgettable experience. Thanks to our guide IbrahimPosted on Lance KVerified 9-day tour through Morocco We did a custom 9-day private tour starting in Marrakech, through Dades valley then the deserts near Merzouga, continuing to Fes, Chefchaouen, and ending in Rabat/Casablanca, with stops along the way. Highlight was camping in the Sahara desert -- riding camels through the sands to reach the campsite, feeling the soft orange sands run through your fingers, listening to the drums by the fire under the stars -- it was quite the sensory experience. Our guide/driver Hsaine / Hassan was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable in many subject matters, able to converse in multiple languages. Highly recommended.
