Morocco itinerary from Agadir begins with a journey inland from Agadir toward Taroudant, a historic city surrounded by impressive red ramparts and lively souks. Often referred to as the “Little Marrakech,” Taroudant offers a wonderful introduction to southern Moroccan culture, with its traditional markets and relaxed local atmosphere.
Continue east toward Taznakht, a town renowned for Amazigh craftsmanship and traditional Berber carpets. Learn about local weaving techniques and enjoy views of the surrounding countryside before continuing to Ouarzazate. Known as Morocco’s cinematic capital, Ouarzazate is home to famous film studios and dramatic desert scenery. Settle into your hotel, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.
Leave Ouarzazate and head south toward Agdez, where the land opens up into the fertile Draa Valley. This area is covered in thousands of date palms, ancient kasbahs, and small villages. After lunch along the way, continue through Berber villages to Rissani, an important historical town and old trade center. In the late afternoon, reach Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Check into a desert lodge or kasbah-style hotel and enjoy dinner to prepare for your 8 days in Morocco itinerary from Agadir.
After breakfast, join a 4×4 desert drive around the Erg Chebbi dunes. Visit the Merzouga oasis and then Khamlia village, where you’ll meet the Gnaoua people and experience their spiritual music from sub-Saharan traditions. Explore desert communities, learn about survival techniques, and visit the old Mifis mines. In the late afternoon, ride a camel across the golden dunes. As the sun sets, arrive at a Berber desert camp for a traditional meal, live drumming, and stories under the stars.
Return by camel to Merzouga for breakfast. Start your 8 days in Morocco itinerary north through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, then continue through Tinjdad and Touroug. Arrive at Todra Gorge, with towering rock walls and a narrow river canyon. Walk through the gorge and enjoy its natural beauty. Continue through winding mountain roads into the Dades Valley, known for its rugged land and unique rock formations called the “Monkey Fingers.” Spend the night in a cozy riad near the gorges.
Travel along the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Kalaat M’Gouna, the heart of the Valley of Roses. Continue to the Skoura Oasis to visit the beautifully preserved Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by palm groves.
Pass once more through Ouarzazate, stopping at the historic Taourirt Kasbah, before heading to the legendary Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a masterpiece of earthen architecture and a famous film location. In the afternoon, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.
Explore Marrakech with a knowledgeable local guide. Visit the elegant Bahia Palace, stroll through the historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and discover the Saadian Tombs, hidden for centuries. Stop at the iconic Koutoubia Mosque before immersing yourself in the vibrant energy of Jemaa el-Fna Square.
In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful visit to the Majorelle Garden, famous for its vivid blue architecture and exotic plants. After a full day of exploration, return to your riad for a relaxing evening.
Leave Marrakech and travel west toward the Atlantic coast. Along the way, spot the famous goats climbing argan trees, a unique sight of the region. Arrive in Essaouira, a laid-back coastal town with a rich maritime history.
Explore the UNESCO-listed medina, walk along the historic ramparts overlooking the ocean, and visit the lively fishing port.

Thanks to our guide IbrahimPosted on Lance KVerified 9-day tour through Morocco We did a custom 9-day private tour starting in Marrakech, through Dades valley then the deserts near Merzouga, continuing to Fes, Chefchaouen, and ending in Rabat/Casablanca, with stops along the way. Highlight was camping in the Sahara desert -- riding camels through the sands to reach the campsite, feeling the soft orange sands run through your fingers, listening to the drums by the fire under the stars -- it was quite the sensory experience. Our guide/driver Hsaine / Hassan was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable in many subject matters, able to converse in multiple languages. Highly recommended.Posted on Maria Teresa LVerified Unforgettable 8 days starting from Marrakech, then several stops to Fez. Then Casablanca for the last day.
